Slain by the Holy Spirit

It’s a Biblical or anti-biblical teaching?

Slain by The Holy Spirit, is the English term to describe when a person falls lying on the floor dominated by the supposed presence of the Holy Spirit. This is a practice that is being used in the Pentecostal Charismatic churches to describe and claim an alleged movement of the Holy Spirit upon the person.

In this writing I am addressing a very deep and controversial topic of which many people don’t dare to touch or are afraid to be against God. I praise God for the few who have already done!

First I want to say that I was converted to Christianity in 1979, and after three years I was involved in the ministry serving God and preaching the glorious gospel of salvation with the fundamental focus of the "sound/healthy doctrine" which the Apostle Paul recommended to Timothy and of course it is an order to every preacher of the gospel to preach the good doctrine.

With over 30 years of service in the gospel I have been observing how the sound doctrine of the gospel is constantly distorted by falsehood and most terrible of all award the deceit of lies to the Holy Spirit, Lord help us!

A scriptural call to ministers of the gospel;

2 Timothy 4:

“1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, ² preach the word; ³ For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. ⁴ They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths”

Titus 2:

“You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine”

Mathew 24:

^“24For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. ²⁵ See, I have told you ahead of time (Jesus)”

Understanding the world ‘Slain’;

According to the dictionary 'slain' is the word to describe when a person gets injured or killed on the battlefield. In the Spanish term and within the Pentecostal charismatic movement slain is described as this; it is when a person is taken by the Holy Spirit an falls to the ground into some sort of a trance. Some are in a delirious mind, others are shaking and others are like dead bodies. I've also seen some that do not fall are but are trembling, shaking and / or screaming. But; are those manifestations coming from the Holy Spirit? Curious I say curiously not for me but to draw up your attention.

Have you noticed that in this practice falls to the ground 'believers and unbelievers' as also occurs in Eastern religions such as Hinduism, where people in the hands of Hindu gurus causes these sort of  manifestations but under the so called ‘spirit Kundalini' but these turns not to be Christian practices. Curious isn’t it? Well, that’s why it is necessary to conduct this study.

The spirit of Fear;

Many people that have been absorbed by such doctrine are afraid to talk against about this because they are afraid to be speaking against the Holy Spirit of God. To me personally, I have been told "God rebukes you" for not being agreed to these practices and have wondered if I have no fear of being against the Holy Spirit? Well, let me clarify that I have no fear nor I am against the Holy Spirit of God. I am against falsehood and deception and let me be clear that God has given me the Spirit of Peace, not of fear, because fear does not come from God.

Given this practice, those preachers who practice this doctrine are based on biblical evidence 'as they say', but I want to reassure you that this practice is not in the bible therefore can not be a biblical doctrine. Now let me first take you for a trip on the biblical passages that are used to assert on this doctrine and then see the correct application of those verses:

The Case of Daniel;

Daniel Chap. 8:

^“18 While he was speaking to me, I was in a deep sleep, with my face to the ground. Then he touched me and raised me to my feet” In this passage I want to discuss two very important matters;

First, the extension of the meaning of the word "asleep" in the Hebrew is the word (רדם ) râdam or raw-dam' Whose meaning includes: amazed, astonished, surprised and / or deep asleep or dead. So what Daniel describes here is that he fell prostrate (face down) on to the ground being highly surprised by the revelations from the angel Gabriel.

Second, Daniel was not in front of the Holy Spirit but before the angel Gabriel. This is clear 'was not the Holy Spirit' or the angel Gabriel who would cause any fall on Daniel but this is that Daniel prostrated before him as I have described above.

Third, when Daniel was prostrated, he was not left there for a long time since the angel Gabriel touched him to strengthen him so he could get up immediately.

So before this event I conclude this does "not" support to the doctrine of "falling under the power of the Holy Spirit.

Continuing with Daniel case, we found later in the chapter 10 of the same book another event which is also important to look at that:

^“9 Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground. ¹⁰ A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. ¹¹ He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you. And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling. ¹² Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. ¹³ But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. ¹⁴ Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.  ¹⁵ While he was saying this to me, I bowed with my face toward the ground and was speechless. ¹⁶ Then one who looked like a man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak. I said to the one standing before me, I am overcome with anguish because of the vision, my lord, and I feel very weak. ¹⁷ How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe. ¹⁸ Again the one who looked like a man touched me and gave me strength. ¹⁹ Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed,” he said. “Peace! Be strong now; be strong. When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength.”

Let’s now see some facts on this text:

In reference to the book of Revelation in chapter 1: 11 to 17. Daniel saw in vision a character that many have identified as the son of God Then he tells us that when he hear his voice he felt on his face in a deep sleep, and the hand of this divine being rested upon him and made him to stand. If we observe carefully we find that Daniel was not ‘slain’ to the ground but was strengthened to get up upon his feet. Daniel laid prostrated without strength but still had full control of his senses so he could talk to this divine being saying; Lord, with the vision pains have come upon me, and I have no strength. So this divine being strengthening him saying 'fear not' and Daniel immediately regained strength and could stand.

From where then its being taking the doctrine that shows people shaking in the ground for long periods of time as seen in some modern churches?  

Well, lets continuo with another example where the scripture records falls of people to the ground, and from where some used this to support the said ‘slain by the Holy Spirit”;

 The case of the young men evil-possessed;

^“42 Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the impure spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father. ⁴³ And they were all amazed at the greatness of God”

This is the case of a father who cried out to Jesus so He could rid off the 'demon possession' from his son, demon that his disciples couldn’t drive off of the boy.  Given this request to Jesus, He commanded the man to bring his son; then the evil spirit throws him to the ground, then immediately Jesus rebuke the spirit and this left the boy free. Did notice what spirit this boy was possessed? An evil spirit! Clearly we see in the passage that the young man was drop to the ground but 'was not' by the Holy Spirit.

Wrongly is the interpretation of this event as deeds of the Holy Spirit. Theologically it is important to notice that during this event the Holy Spirit was at work because Christ himself was among the people and as said was the demon that drops down this boy. Then all the demonstrations showed when this young man falls like; screaming, shaking and mouth-foaming although they seem like the practice in some of our churches, were not from God but were from the evil spirit that possessed him. Again I can say that this event was also not from the Holy Spirit!

The Case from Paul;

Acts Chapter 9:

“Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest ² and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. ³ As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. ⁴ He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? ⁵ Who are you, Lord? Saul asked.

Interesting passage to look at, as when Paul was persecuting the believers in Christ he was knocked down to the ground. Alike the other passages this one is also used for some preacher to continue the struggle to uphold the doctrine of falling to the ground by the power of the Holy Spirit. So once again let’s see this portion: At this time Saul (his name before Jesus called Paul) was an unbeliever and in his fanaticism for his religion he persecuted the followers of Christ. He felt to the ground for being bad, persecutor and murderer.

This event is also not from the Holy Spirit but rather a rebuke from Christ before his evil deeds. Saul may have been ridden a horse or camel and the mighty glorious light of Jesus Christ throw him to the ground. This deed was also not an act of the Holy Spirit! Therefore it is an event that can not support the so called slain by the Holy Spirit.

The case of Ananias and Sapphira;

Is also found in Acts chapter 5 where it is also reported the falling. Let’s see again:

“Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. ² with his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet. ³ Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? ⁴ Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.” ⁵ When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. ⁶ Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. ⁷ about three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. ⁸ Peter asked her “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?” “Yes,” she said, “that is the price.” ⁹ Peter said to her, “How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.” ¹⁰ At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. ¹¹ Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these event

This recorded case is also very important, because here we can see the deeds of the Holy Spirit who ‘slain’ (as in the meaning of being ‘slain by the Holy Spirit) two peoples; But is this case and event to be used in support of the discussed teaching of falling to the ground in today’s churches?

Let’s see what happen here: Ananias filled his heart with the devil's lie and lied to the apostles, not only to them but the Holy Spirit of God. We can note here that when Ananias hears the words of rebuke from Peter he "fell down" and not only fell but died. The Holy Spirit took his life! His wife Sapphira, also fell dead and was buried with her husband because of the same lies. Paying a very close attention to this case we can clearly see that this also does not support such doctrine. But, in this case we can see the ‘true’ meaning of being slain or killed as explained at the beginning of this writing.

And lastly a final case with the faith in my heart that God will give you understanding and peace towards the discussed doctrines as discernment in a way that you also can stand up to protect the good teachings of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The soldiers fell to the ground;

John Chapter 18:

² Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. ³ So Judas came to the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons. ⁴ Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?” ⁵ “Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) ⁶ When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

This passage shows the event on the night when Jesus was captured while was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. There we see that a company of soldiers led by Judas the betrayer came to size Jesus. Here comes a group of soldiers and I want to emphasize that they are all ‘un-believers’.  When Jesus asked them; who is it you want? They reply to Jesus to what he responded: "I ​​am he" and before such response this company of soldiers felt to the ground. They could not stand before Jesus! So, they not were surrounded by the Holy Spirit's presence, but because they were bad and evil they could not stand before the holiness of the Great "I Am" Jesus. No! This passage also does not support the falls to the ground as a practice of the Holy Spirit.

Summarizing the above scriptures;

On each of the passage above, none of them holds ground to sustain the teaching of ‘being slain by the Holy Spirit”. Therefore all Christians should open their hearts and reject the false doctrine of ‘being slain’ as clearly we have seen that those preacher of such doctrine interpret this scripture wrongly and it is being use solely for personal gain; therefore they falls under the category of false teachers of our times.

 Reaching the final conclusion;

 What we see in nowadays at ‘some’ Pentecostal Charismatic churches is a wrong doctrine given by wrong preachers. Let me say that this is not a matter of dispute or discussion of with the charismatic Pentecostal churches but rather is a doctrinal issue which is affecting many congregations. I am a friend of pastors of Pentecostal churches, to many of them I congratulate on the right path of the biblical teaching of the so called ‘the sound (good)doctrine’ protecting and ensuring the spiritual welfare of his flock doctrinal. I'm not looking to win enemies, but to present the truth hoping to win friends through the Gospel of Christ.

 

We can see that the power of the message of the Word of God 'has declined' to give much more attention to these practices of; falling, screaming, running, shaking, etc. to those who don’t share the present lesson, I with the deepest on my heart invite them to respond in their hearts the following questions:

 

-Is the Holy Spirit a God of order or disorder?

-In what way glorifies God to such practices in our churches?
-Why believers and unbelievers fall?
-When and where Christ and / or the apostles of the early church made or ordain such practices?
-What the unbelievers think when attending services for the first time and see such practices?
-Why some preachers enjoy this doctrine?
-Does this practice seek God's glory? ‘or’ the glory and fame of the preacher?
-Do people change because they fall to the ground or by the power of the message of the Word of God?
-Does this practice get people closer to God?

¿Una doctrina bíblica ó anti bíblica?

Slain by The Holy Spirit; es el termino en inglés para describir cuando una persona cae tendida en el  suelo  (en inglés; Slain) dominada por la supuesta presencia del Espíritu Santo. Esta es una práctica que se está usando en las iglesias carismáticas pentecostales para designar o afirmar un supuesto movimiento del Espíritu Santo sobre la persona. En el escrito de hoy (que formará parte del volumen 2 de Escritos para el alma) estoy abordando un tema muy profundo y controversial del cual muchos no se atreven a tocar ó sienten miedo de estar en contra de Dios. Alabo a Dios por los pocos que ya lo han hecho.

Quiero primero manifestar que soy convertido al cristianismo desde 1979, y tres años más tarda ya estaba envuelto en el ministerio sirviendo a Dios en la predicación del glorioso evangelio de la salvación enfocando como base fundamental “la sana doctrina” de la cual el apóstol Pablo recomendó a Timoteo y por supuesto es una orden para cada predicador del evangelio predique la sana doctrina.

Con más de 30 años de servicio en el evangelio he podido observar como la sana doctrina del evangelio es tergiversada constantemente con la falsedad y los más terrible de todo adjudicar el engaño como si fuera una obra del Espíritu Santo, ¡Señor ayúdanos! 

El llamado escritural a los ministros del evangelio;

2 Timoteo 4:

¹ Te encarezco delante de Dios y del Señor Jesucristo, ² que prediques la palabra, ³ porque vendrá tiempo cuando no sufrirán la sana doctrina, sino que teniendo comezón de oír, se amontonaran maestros conforme a sus propias concupiscencias, ⁴ y apartaran de la verdad el oído y se volverán a las fabulas.

Tito 2:

¹ Pero tú habla lo que está de acuerdo con la sana doctrina.

San Mateo 24:
²⁴ Porque se levantaran falsos Cristos, y falsos profetas, y engañaran, si fuere posible, aun a los escogidos. ²⁵ ya os lo he dicho antes (Jesús).

Entendiendo la palabra “Slain”;

Según el diccionario ‘slain’ Es la en ingles palabra para describir cuando una persona cae herida o muerta en el campo de batalla. En el término español y dentro del movimiento carismático pentecostal se describe así; Es cuando una persona es tomada por el Espíritu Santo, esta cae al suelo y entra en una especie de trance. He visto como muchas personas caen y también he visto las diferentes manifestaciones emocionales que ellos presentan; algunos quedan en desvarió mental, otros quedan temblando y otros quedan como muertos. También he visto como algunos que no caen quedan temblando, sacudiéndose y/o gritando. Pero; ¿son estas manifestaciones del Espíritu Santo?

Curiosidad; Digo curiosidad no por mí sino para llamar la atención a usted. Ha notado usted que en esta práctica de caer al suelo caen ‘creyentes e incrédulos’ como también ocurre en religiones orientales como el hinduismo, donde personas en las manos de gurús hindúes provocan estas manifestaciones bajo el espíritu ‘Kundalini’ pero estos a su vez no son cristianos. ¿curioso verdad? Bueno, por eso es necesario realizar este estudio.

El Temor;

Muchas almas creyentes que han sido absorbidas este tipo de doctrina tienen temor de hablar de esto porque tienen miedo de estar hablando en contra del Espíritu Santo de Dios. A mí en lo personal ya me han dicho “que Dios me reprenda” por no estar de acuerdo en estas prácticas y me han preguntado ¿si no tengo miedo de estar en contra del Espíritu Santo? Bueno, aclaro que no tengo miedo y ni estoy en contra del Espíritu Santo de Dios. Estoy en contra de la falsedad y del engaño y esto que quede bien claro pues Dios me ha dado Espíritu de Paz y no de temor, pues el temor no es de Dios.

Ante tal práctica, estos predicadores que practican tal doctrina se apoyan en evidencias bíblicas ‘como  dicen ellos’, pero quiero manifestarles que tal práctica no se encuentra en la biblia por lo tanto no puede ser una doctrina bíblica. Ahora permítame primero hacer un recorrido en los pasajes bíblicos que son usados para afirmar tal doctrina y luego veremos la aplicación correcta en dichos pasajes;

El Caso de Daniel,

Daniel Cap. 8: ¹⁸ “Mientras él hablaba conmigo, caí dormido en tierra sobre mi rostro; y él me tocó, y me hizo estar en pie” En este texto quiero analizar dos cosas muy importantes;

Primero; la extensión del significado de la palabra “dormido”; En el Hebreo se usa la palabra (רדם ) râdam or raw-dam' Cuyo significado incluye: estupefacto, extrañado, sorprendido y/o profundamente dormido o muerto. Entonces lo que Daniel describe es que el callo postrado con el rostro en tierra quedando altamente sorprendido por las revelaciones del ángel Gabriel.

Segundo; Daniel no se encontraba delante del Espíritu Santo sino delante del ángel Gabriel. Aquí es claro ‘no fue El Espíritu Santo’ ni el ángel Gabriel quien provocara ninguna caída sobre Daniel sino que este se postro ante él como lo he descrito anteriormente.

Tercero; Cuando Daniel quedó postrado, no quedó postrado por largo rato pues el ángel Gabriel inmediatamente le tocó para fortalecerlo y que este se pusiera de pie.

Ante este corto análisis la escritura me permite concluir que este texto “no” es aplicable para sostener la doctrina de “caer bajo el poder del Espíritu Santo”.

Luego en el Capítulo 10 del mismo libro de Daniel encontramos la siguiente escritura la cual también amerita que la veamos y luego agregaré mis comentarios:

^“9 Pero oí el sonido de sus palabras; y al oír el sonido de sus palabras, caí sobre mi rostro en un profundo sueño, con mi rostro en tierra. ¹⁰ Y he aquí una mano me tocó, e hizo que me pusiese sobre mis rodillas y sobre las palmas de mis manos.¹¹ Y me dijo: Daniel, varón muy amado, está atento a las palabras que te hablaré, y ponte en pie; porque a ti he sido enviado ahora. Mientras hablaba esto conmigo, me puse en pie temblando.¹² Entonces me dijo: Daniel, no temas; porque desde el primer día que dispusiste tu corazón a entender y a humillarte en la presencia de tu Dios, fueron oídas tus palabras; y a causa de tus palabras yo he venido. ¹³ Mas el príncipe del reino de Persia se me opuso durante veintiún días; pero he aquí Miguel, uno de los principales príncipes, vino para ayudarme, y quedé allí con los reyes de Persia.¹⁴ He venido para hacerte saber lo que ha de venir a tu pueblo en los postreros días; porque la visión es para esos días. ¹⁵ Mientras me decía estas palabras, estaba yo con los ojos puestos en tierra, y enmudecido. ¹⁶ Pero he aquí, uno con semejanza de hijo de hombre tocó mis labios. Entonces abrí mi boca y hablé, y dije al que estaba delante de mí: Señor mío, con la visión me han sobrevenido dolores, y no me queda fuerza.¹⁷ ¿Cómo, pues, podrá el siervo de mi señor hablar con mi señor? Porque al instante me faltó la fuerza, y no me quedó aliento. ¹⁸ Y aquel que tenía semejanza de hombre me tocó otra vez, y me fortaleció, ¹⁹ y me dijo: Muy amado, no temas; la paz sea contigo; esfuérzate y aliéntate. Y mientras él me hablaba, recobré las fuerzas, y dije: Hable mi señor, porque me has fortalecido”

Comentario;

Daniel vio en visión a un personaje que muchos han identificado como el hijo de Dios que en referencia que encontramos en el libro de apocalipsis en el capítulo 1; 11 al 17. Luego Daniel nos dice que al escuchar su voz cayó sobre su rostro en un profundo sueño, y que la mano de este ser Divino se posó sobre él y le hizo estar en pie. Si observamos, detenidamente este suceso encontramos una realidad implícita; Daniel no al igual que el caso anterior, no quedo tirado en tierra tirado. Daniel quedó postrado sin fuerzas pero aún tenía pleno control de sus sentidos por lo que hablo a este ser divino diciendo; Señor mío, con la visión me han sobrevenido dolores, y no me queda fuerza a lo que este ser divino respondió tocándole, fortaleciéndole y diciéndole ‘no temas’ así Daniel recobró inmediatamente las fuerzas y se pudo de pie.

¿De donde pues sacan que ni sacudiéndose en el suelo por largo tiempo como se ve en algunos casos de iglesias modernas donde las personas quedan en el suelo por 10, 20, 30 ó más minutos?

Siguiendo con los ejemplos de las referencias sobre las caídas y que en no una pero en muchas ocasiones me han presentado como las evidencias bíblicas que apoyan esta doctrina en discusión tenemos ahora;

El Caso del joven endemoniado;

San Lucas 9: ⁴² Y mientras se acercaba el muchacho, el demonio le derribó y le sacudió con violencia; pero Jesús reprendió al espíritu inmundo, y sanó al muchacho, y se lo devolvió a su padre. ⁴³ Y todos se admiraban de la grandeza de Dios.   

Este es el caso de un padre que clamó a Jesús que librará a su hijo de la ‘posesión de un demonio’ al cual los discípulos no pudieron expulsar. Ante tal petición Jesús ordenó al hombre traer a su hijo y mientras se encaminaba hacia Jesús el ‘espíritu inmundo lo derribo” en tierra. Dice; ¡espíritu inmundo! ¿Verdad?

Comentando; claramente vemos en el pasaje que quien derribo al joven al suelo ‘no fue’ el Espíritu Santo. Erróneamente hacen los que interpretan tal evento como obra del Espíritu Santo pues durante este evento el Espíritu Santo no estaba en acción porque Cristo mismo estaba entre ellos.

Luego todas las manifestaciones que este joven mostro al caer; gritos, sacudidas y echar espuma por la boca, aunque se parezcan a las prácticas de hoy en algunas iglesias, ¡tampoco eran de Dios¡ sino del espíritu inmundo que lo poseía. Una vez más afirmo que este caso ¡no es obra del Espíritu Santo!

El Caso de Pablo;

Hechos Cap.  9: ¹ Saulo, respirando aún amenazas y muerte contra los discípulos del Señor, vino al sumo sacerdote, ² y le pidió cartas para las sinagogas de Damasco, a fin de que si hallase algunos hombres o mujeres de este Camino, los trajese presos a Jerusalén. ³ Mas yendo por el camino, aconteció que al llegar cerca de Damasco, repentinamente le rodeó un resplandor de luz del cielo; ⁴ y cayendo en tierra, oyó una voz que le decía: Saulo, Saulo, ¿por qué me persigues? ⁵ El dijo: ¿Quién eres, Señor? Y le dijo: Yo soy Jesús, a quien tú persigues.

Interesante pasaje al mirar que cuando Pablo perseguía a los creyentes fue “derribado en tierra”. También este pasaje es utilizado para seguir la lucha de sostener la doctrina de caer al suelo por el poder del Espíritu Santo. Al igual que los casos anteriores veamos este texto:

En este tiempo Saulo (su nombre antes que Jesús lo llamará Pablo) era un hombre incrédulo y que en su celo por su religión perseguía a los creyentes. Este cayó al suelo por ser ‘malo perseguidor y asesino’.

Esta acción tampoco es obra del Espíritu Santo sino más bien es una reprensión de Cristo ante sus malas acciones. Es posible que e Saulo cabalgará en caballo ó camello y la poderosa luz gloriosa de Jesucristo hizo que Saulo fuese tumbado a tierra. ¡Este caso; tampoco es obra del Espíritu Santo!

El Caso de Ananías y Safira;

Otro caso más que amerita discutirlo:

Hechos Cap. 5: ¹Pero cierto hombre llamado Ananías, con Safira su mujer, vendió una heredad, ² y sustrajo del precio, sabiéndolo también su mujer; y trayendo sólo una parte, la puso a los pies de los apóstoles. ³ Y dijo Pedro: Ananías, ¿por qué llenó Satanás tu corazón para que mintieses al Espíritu Santo, y sustrajeses del precio de la heredad? ⁴ Reteniéndola, ¿no se te quedaba a ti? y vendida, ¿no estaba en tu poder? ¿Por qué pusiste esto en tu corazón? No has mentido a los hombres, sino a Dios. ⁵ Al oír Ananías estas palabras, cayó y expiró. Y vino un gran temor sobre todos los que lo oyeron. ⁶ Y levantándose los jóvenes, lo envolvieron, y sacándolo, lo sepultaron. ⁷ Pasado un lapso como de tres horas, sucedió que entró su mujer, no sabiendo lo que había acontecido.⁸ Entonces Pedro le dijo: Dime, ¿vendisteis en tanto la heredad? Y ella dijo: Sí, en tanto. ⁹ Y Pedro le dijo: ¿Por qué convinisteis en tentar al Espíritu del Señor? He aquí a la puerta los pies de los que han sepultado a tu marido, y te sacarán a ti.¹⁰ Al instante ella cayó a los pies de él, y expiró; y cuando entraron los jóvenes, la hallaron muerta; y la sacaron, y la sepultaron junto a su marido. ¹¹ Y vino gran temor sobre toda la iglesia, y sobre todos los que oyeron estas cosas.

En este caso ¡sí! Encontramos la participación del Espíritu Santo al tirar al suelo no a uno sino a dos personas, pero; ¿es correcto usarlo para afirmar las caídas al suelo en las iglesias de hoy?

Veamos aquí lo sucedido;

Ananías llenó su corazón de la mentira del diablo y mintió a los apóstoles, no solo a ellos sino al Espíritu Santo de Dios. Notamos que Ananías al oír las palabras de reprensión de Pedro “cayó al suelo” y no solo cayó  sino que murió. ¡El Espíritu Santo lo quito la vida! Safira su mujer, también cayó al suelo muerta y fue sepultada con su marido.

¿Es esta otra doctrina para sostener el engaño en las iglesias de hoy? No, esta historia tampoco apoya la doctrina de caer al suelo por el poder del Espíritu Santo.

Un caso más;

Encontramos también otros casos en la biblia donde personas fueron derribadas al suelo pero para no entrar en mucha repetición voy a presentarles uno mas:

Los Soldados cayeron en tierra;

San Juan 18: ³Judas, pues, tomando una compañía de soldados, y alguaciles de los principales sacerdotes y de los fariseos, fue allí con linternas y antorchas, y con armas.⁴ Pero Jesús, sabiendo todas las cosas que le habían de sobrevenir, se adelantó y les dijo: ¿A quién buscáis? ⁵ Le respondieron: A Jesús nazareno. Jesús les dijo: Yo soy. Y estaba también con ellos Judas, el que le entregaba. ⁶ Cuando les dijo: Yo soy, retrocedieron, y cayeron a tierra.

Este pasaje nos muestra la narración de la noche en que el Señor Jesús fue capturado mientras se encontraba orando en el huerto de Getsemaní. Allí vemos que se acerca una compañía de soldados guiados por Judas el que traicionó. Observe entonces como se desarrolla la captura en esta narración ofrecida por el apóstol San Juan:

Aquí se acerca al Señor un grupo de soldados y quiero enfatizar que son incrédulos. Cuando el Señor les pregunta; ¿a quién buscáis? Jesús responde “Yo Soy” a lo que esta compañía de soldados incrédulos y malignos que bajo órdenes superiores buscan la captura del Señor, caen al suelo ante la poderosa respuesta ¡Soy Yo! ¿Por qué cayeron? No que fueron envueltos por la presencia del Espíritu Santo, sino porque eran malos y perversos que no pudieron sostenerse ante la santidad de el gran “Soy Yo”. No, tampoco este pasaje apoya las caídas al suelo como una práctica del Espíritu Santo.

Resumiendo las escrituras anteriores;

De cada pasaje expuesto anteriormente ninguno de ellos ha sido dado ó contiene la actual corriente de caer al suelo por lo tanto los cristianos (usted y yo) debemos abrir nuestros corazones ante las enseñanzas erróneas que son utilizadas simplemente para beneficio personal de los falsos apóstoles y maestros de nuestro tiempo.

Lo que hoy en día miramos en iglesias carismáticas pentecostales;

Primero que todo permítame hacer la aclaración que este no es un asunto de pleito o discusión sobre las iglesias pentecostales carismáticas sino más bien es un aspecto doctrinal lo cual debe ponerse arriba de toda denominación. Soy amigo de pastores de iglesias pentecostales a muchas de las cuales felicito por haber tomado el camino correcto de la enseñanza bíblica protegiendo la sana doctrina y velando por el bienestar doctrinal de sus ovejas.

-No busco ganar enemigos sino que presentar la verdad esperando ganar amigos por medio de las riquezas injustas –el evangelio-

Vemos que el poder del mensaje de la palabra de Dios ‘ha disminuido’ para dar mucha más atención a estas prácticas de caer, gritar, correr, temblar y quedar hasta horas en el suelo.

¿En que se glorifica Dios ante tales prácticas en nuestras iglesias?
¿Por qué caen creyentes e incrédulos?
¿Cuándo y dónde Cristo y/o los apóstoles de la iglesia primitiva realizaron tales prácticas?
¿Qué opinan los incrédulos que atienden los servicios por primera vez y miran tales prácticas?
¿Por qué a los predicadores de esta doctrina les encanta que la gente caiga al suelo?
¿Se busca la gloria de Dios ó la gloria y fama del predicador?
¿Cambian las personas porque caen al suelo ó por el poder del mensaje de la palabra de Dios?
¿Acerca esta práctica a las personas a Dios?
